Participation of Bettina Schorr at discussion on mining in Peru, together with Red Muqui and Misereor

Together with Red Muqui and Misereor, Bettina Schorr, director of trAndeS, will be participating at the discussion on mining in Peru: "Turning risks into opportunities: Mining in the Mantaro Valley / Peru - Environmental problems in mining aftercare; opportunities through remediation and remining".
The discussion will take place at the Mercure Hotel in Berlin on the 28th of Janurary 2019.
The Red Muqui network, Peruvian partner organisation of Misereor, together with the German company Sensatec and the Peruvian authority Activos Mineros, is investigating the situation of environmental contamination of mining spoil heaps as part of a current research project. Bettina Schorr was cordially invited to discuss these topics and the study that investigates the possibilities of stabilising and rehabilitating, as well as creating economic alternatives to mining in the Mantaro Valley in the Junín region of Peru.
